Nature Dome Trivia, Part Deux
10:57 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2009
Had a lot of fun with the first round of Nature Dome trivia here and on Twitter -- even got some really fun answers from a follower or two ("exceptional nonchalance" isn't a defensive weapon of the platypus, but I can't imagine a better guess). So here goes round two. Of course, you can still find all the answers in your own Nature Dome Mammals deck . . . or tune in throughout the week at the Nature Dome Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/NatureDomer

As great a game as Nature Dome Mammals is, and as much as I want to spread the word and get it into the hands of kids, parents and teachers everywhere, it's only the beginning. Once sales hit the right level on Nature Dome Mammals, Nature Dome Reptiles and Amphibians--with 50 new animal power cards and 5 new attack boosts, as well as an updated and more informational design--is ready to go to print. After that, there will be Nature Dome decks featuring Birds, Fish, Insects and Arachnids, Prehistoric Craetures and more--all complete games in and of themselves and all fully integratable with any and all other Nature Dome decks. Add to that Advanced Play Packs that introduce elements, environments and more into every Nature Dome battle, and the franchise has a long and exciting life ahead of it. But there is more to Fogelmania Games, Inc.--the independent game company behind Nature Dome--than Nature Dome itself. We're always looking for new game ideas, and we find inspiration everywhere we look. Among the other ideas ready to go to press are a strategic tabletop card game that pits rival ant colonies against each other in an exciting and fast-paced race for conquest; build-a-board games that add unprecedented twists to chess and take sea battles over the horizon of strategic fun; and a simple-on-the-surface card game of give and take in which every player's fate teeters on the tip of an arrow. Most recently, we've begun development on a board game revolving around ocean exploration, colonization and empire--and that was originally inspired by the compass rose pattern of a tabletop design at a local cafe. The future looks bright, and there are a host of great games to come. So stay tuned to Nature Dome and Fogelmania Games . . . And if you can't wait to see the next big thing, do your part to get the current great thing out there: get your Nature Dome Mammals deck today at www.NatureDomeGame.com, and spread the word to your friends, family, teachers and gamers everywhere.

During a recent test-run of the ordering process on www.NatureDomeGame.com, I discovered that the ordering process was way too complicated and was conflicting with some of the other features of the site. So this week, I sat down with my webmaster--who just happens to be the internet guru who created Your Community Blog--and we super-streamlined the ordering process on the site. It's as easy as click and buy through PayPal now. So for all those who have check it out and been scared away by the old process, I hope you'll give it another chance. It's easier than ever to get your child's next favorite game! .. 0 Comments .. Permalink .. Posted in Nature Dome Reflections on the Tampa Comic Con

Finally getting around to talking about the Tampa Comic Con a few weeks ago. The new venue was okay, though not as easily accessible as the previous one at the DoubleTree in Tampa. Finding a meeting hall in an industrial area isn't as easy as finding a hotel right off the interstate, so attendance suffered, it seemed. This was the first event that I didn't at least pay for my table space in sales, but it wasn't all bad. I met another game inventor who is just jumping into the market. He created Dungeon Looter (www.DungeonLooter.com), a rummy-esque game in which players play matching pairs of items they might find while exploring a treasure-filled dungeon. I picked up a game and have played quite a few rounds with my kids and wife. It's easy to learn, and accessible enough for even young players--in fact, it's my daughter's new favorite game. At about $10 per 90-odd card deck, it's definitely worth the investment, and (like Nature Dome, www.NatureDomeGame.com) is a great way to support a worthy independent game creator. .. 0 Comments ..
